Filament respects copyright and responds to notices of alleged infringement under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act, 17 U.S.C. § 512.

4.1 Designated Agent

Notices should be sent to Filament's designated agent:

4.2 Filing a notice

To be valid, a notice must include: (a) a physical or electronic signature of the copyright owner or authorized agent; (b) identification of the copyrighted work claimed to be infringed; (c) identification of the material claimed to be infringing and information sufficient to locate it on the Service (the URL on the Congregation Site); (d) your contact information; (e) a statement that you have a good-faith belief the use is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law; and (f) a statement, under penalty of perjury, that the information is accurate and that you are the owner or authorized to act for the owner.

4.3 What we do

On receiving a valid notice, Filament will promptly remove or disable access to the identified material, notify the Church whose Congregation Site hosted it, and forward a copy of the notice. Filament may also remove content on its own initiative.

4.4 Counter-notice

If you believe material was removed by mistake or misidentification, you may send a counter-notice to the designated agent including: (a) your signature; (b) identification of the material and its former location; (c) a statement under penalty of perjury that you have a good-faith belief the material was removed by mistake or misidentification; (d) your name, address, and phone number; and (e) consent to the jurisdiction of the federal court for your district (or, if outside the U.S., for the district where Filament is located) and agreement to accept service from the person who filed the notice. Filament may restore the material in 10 to 14 business days unless the original claimant files a court action.

4.5 Repeat infringers

Filament will terminate the accounts of users who are subject to repeated valid infringement notices. Filament tracks notices by account. Two valid, uncontested notices within 12 months will result in termination.

4.6 Misrepresentation

Knowingly misrepresenting that material is infringing, or was removed by mistake, may result in liability under 17 U.S.C. § 512(f).
